#3 — Roleplay Etiquette

The roleplay etiquette is a list of fundamental rule constructs that define the roleplay concept the server is set on.

ℹ️ Good Roleplay Etiquette
You are to assert a sense of etiquette when roleplaying, it's expected that you build upon and maintain an ethic of roleplay espousal where you are respectful and actively improving your own or coming to the aid of another player's roleplay awareness, creativity, or interaction with the roleplay world.

3.1: Poor Roleplay Etiquette
Creating good roleplay is subjective, however, the below criteria give you an insight into what poor roleplay etiquette looks like, so you know what not to do. Poor roleplay, subpar roleplay, or Non-RP are all acronyms for this subheader, it includes (but not limited to):

  • Ignoring roleplay, stalling.
  • Not roleplaying helping someone up before /helpup.
  • Unrealistic actions that promote poor quality roleplay.
  • Excessive rule break of the fundamental roleplay rules.
  • Excessively /cartrunk-ing cars without any roleplay whatsoever.
  • Misusing job vehicles for other purposes than those designated.
  • Exploiting the use of spray cans to faze players in fights or shootouts.
  • Poor, lack, or misuse of proper punctuation or abbreviations in sentences.
  • Continuously messing around right after being punished for the same thing.
  • Mixing or abuse of OOC mediums in IC, including the misuse of VoIP services.
  • The misuse of clothing accessories to troll, mess around or obstruct player vision.
  • The use or carry of multiple attachments to camouflage constant carry of weapons.
  • Olympic swimming, logging to avoid, suicide attempts/forcing death to avoid roleplay.
  • Taunting or baiting government agencies and or other factions without a proper IC reason.
  • Driving your vehicle past police barriers to avoid obvious street obstructions you should follow.
  • The use of /mask to hide your nametag but not using a proper clothing object to cover your character's face.
  • The use of /advert to post unrealistic services or as a megaphone of smearing and trolling.
  • Instigating situations you don't have the time to play through, i.e. stirring up a cop chase but needing to go off shortly after.
  • Car surfing (an exception to kidnappings) or middle-man passenger seats, unrealistic stunt jumps, submerging vehicles in water, troll driving, etc.
  • Profusely speaking a foreign language IC after instructed not to. Speaking another language must be done in the format "(Language) English Text".
  • Requesting a player kill for an injury by a cop when your injuries are mediocre and saveable via /helpup. Death by cop PK's is applicable if the player's injuries are too critical for saving aka /helpup.

3.2: PowerGame (PG)
Powergaming is playing unfairly by not allowing other players a chance to roleplay responses and their own actions, unrealistic actions, or non-factual statements in /do.
  • You carry a duffle bag, three briefcases, and two backpacks for a series of weapons on your person.
  • You rush-kick someone down without waiting for their reaction/response.
  • You are equipped with an AK-47 and you drive a motorcycle, upon getting off you asspull your weapon.

Asspulling refers to the non-rp handling/scrolling of heavy weapons, these include all the automatic rifles, sniper rifles, mp5, and shotguns (except sawn-off).

  • Using /do to roleplay you've put an item elsewhere when it's on you script-wisely.
  • You rush-taze or tackle a suspect as police when their gun is drawn or pointed.
  • Initiating a standalone attack on a group, this is not the same as standalone policing. (1-man-army)
  • You disregard your own or a rival's cover in the pursuit of a quick kill. (rambo)
  • You are held at gunpoint and dismiss any fear for your character whatsoever, running away or unholstering your own gun to shoot against. (fear-rp)

3.3: Fear Roleplay (FRP)
Fear roleplay means showing submission for your character’s safety and life when you're in a vulnerable position or facing imminent danger.

Examples (but not limited to), where your character’s life IS considered to be in direct danger:
  • When you are on foot or bike and a weapon is aimed at you at close range.
  • When you’re in a vehicle that is stalled or turned off and a weapon is aimed at you at close range.
  • When the attacker lowers their weapon to type or roleplay, your life remains in direct danger.
  • Driving a vehicle into an active shootout more than once without the intent of providing cover for a friend or yourself, or fleeing with it.

Examples (but not limited to), where your character’s life is considered to NOT be direct danger:
  • When you are in a car whose engine is not stalled.
  • When you have a firearm drawn and are facing the other person before they attacked.
  • When the attacker’s view is obstructed by an object or when they turn their back on you.
  • Victim & Attacker Etiquette:
  • As the attacker, you should NOT execute a compliant victim, unless they bring it upon themselves.
  • As a victim, whose life is in direct danger: display reasonable value for your life and comply with the demands of your attacker.
  • You also cannot call 911 or call/page your friends to aid you, as this is powergaming.

3.4: MetaGame (MG)
Metagaming is the act of relaying Out of Character obtained Information to alter In-Character means and purposes.
  • Emoting information that other people have no reason to currently know.
  • Relaying information that YOU know but your CHARACTER doesn't.
  • Misusing an OOC medium to find, navigate to or make remarks about a person/group that you ICly don't know.
  • You read another player's nametag above their head and call them by their name without knowing them.
  • You are being robbed and you plead for help from your friends via /pms.
  • Recalling dead people's names or clear-vision scenes when you were PKed from the said scene.

3.5: Deathmatch (DM)
Deathmatching is the act of onslaught from one player to another with a roleplay interaction or for no adequate purpose.
  • Deathmatching is the act of attacking a player without a proper IC motive and interaction.
  • Prior interaction should include escalation of events such as a robbery or calling the police.
  • Killing everyone on sight and attacking, provoking, or killing anyone that comes in reach of your person.
  • Performing terrorism, inciting general mayhem, blowing vehicles up, crashing aircraft, etc.
  • Vehicles cannot be used as weapons in active shootouts unless where unavoidable.

3.6: Revenge Kill (RK) & New Life Rule (NLR)
Revenge Kill is using the knowledge that you had previously obtained before your death to alter the course of gameplay standpoint moving forward. To prevent this unrealistic powerplay, in roleplay all player-killed characters undergo the new life rule upon their respawn.
  • Upon a player's death, all parties involved in the death should forget the memory of all information and any negative interactions and events leading up to the death.
  • Information prior to the death should be completely forgotten and is no longer a valid justification for any future hostile action against those involved.
  • Players can’t return to the area of death until the prior RP is finished and 30 min OOC has passed.
  • Government faction members may return to their HQ and resume unrelated faction duties.

PUNISHMENT(S):
Admin jail, or ban based on severity.

  • Players may participate in no more than one bank break-in attempt within one OOC month.
  • Avoiding this criterium and performing a break-in anyway is prohibited.

(Applies to both break-ins and breakouts):
  1. The request of approval and surveillance of neutral staff, Senior Admin+.
  2. Including six police officers online and on duty and at least three accomplices (Level 5+) .
The request is up to a staff member's discretion and the number of recent times a breakout/in has occurred, including the novelty of such place.
If you have an attempt denied it means you're put on a 1 OOC week cooldown before attempting again.

PUNISHMENT(S):
Kick, ic-rejail, admin jail, or ban based on severity.

#5 — Robbing & Scamming

New Players have protection against robberies and scams unless they take part in the scene themselves in which protection is temporarily lost. Both the robber and robbed must be Level 2 or above to participate in such activity, however, lower levels part of groups with higher levels can roleplay giving their money away (without /pay) to not stall the scene.

Players with the sole intention to just execute robberies, disregarding IC motive or purpose are frowned upon and will be sanctioned.

Cooldown: It is prohibited to deliberately rob/scam the same player(s) more than once in a 12-hour cooldown period.

5.1: Robberies Information

Robberies are to be conducted in a realistic manner and with reasonable IC motives.
Taking into consideration the location, time of day, and population.
Money Limit: $5,000
Robberies on on-duty government agency members are prohibited. Truck Job Crates Limit: 12 crates.
Engaging in constant robberies as your prime activity is frowned upon and prohibited. Inventory rule of thumb: what's on you scriptly is on you, any roleplay done otherwise needs to be evidenced.
Players may not rob other players' property contents or force them to withdraw money or give assets not present IC. Level: New players are excluded, MUST be Level 2+.
It is prohibited to execute a compliant victim after a robbery is over unless they bring it upon themselves.

5.2: Committing Robberies in 'Safe' Areas
It is required to first notify an online server administrator before conducting a robbery of another player in a 'safe' area, regardless of the time of day:
  • Montgomery, Dillimore, Blueberry, Palomino Creek

If taking place in one of the above listed areas, the robbery must be approved by the administrator before it may continue.
If approved, the administrator may, in their sole discretion, choose to inform the police to respond at any point during it.

Note that the above rule does not apply to Safezones (which are different) and where all violent crime is prohibited.

5.3: Scamming Information

Scamming must clearly have an IC motive and not be used to deceive the player for any assets via OOC means. Money Limit: $25,000
It is prohibited to execute a compliant victim after scamming is over unless they bring it upon themselves. Level: New players are excluded, MUST be Level 5+.

PUNISHMENT(S):
Verbal warning, slap or kick, or admin jail based on severity.

Note: A player may withdraw their consent at any time and the roleplay must be stopped and voided immediately.

6.2: Gruesome/Forbidden Roleplay

  • Paedophilia, necrophilia, bestiality and cannibalism are strictly prohibited with no exceptions.

#7 — Property & Object Rules

Upon purchasing your first property you should be aware of the general responsibility of owning one. Players should communicate property inside-to-outside actions properly via the door action commands (/propertyhelp).

7.1: Property Rules
  • Property doors should be unlocked if someone has roleplayed a break-in.
  • Property interiors should reflect the outdoor appearance of the building where feasible.
  • Property furniture should NOT be used as a tool to obscure an entrance, exploit accessibility or prevent roleplay.

7.2: Arson
  • Damaging properties via arson has to be requested and approved by a General Admin+ and requires at least 3 PD members and 2 Firefighters online.
  • The accomplices MUST be Level 6 or above and have a clear IC motive and purpose for the activity.
  • Arson requests if approved can last for 3 OOC days (and shorter) and are expected to be roleplayed by all collectively.

The arson request can also be denied based on staff discretion, the volume of recent incidents, and other factors.

7.3: Object Rules
  • Spawnables are used as means for roleplay substance, exploiting them for anything than the designated intention is prohibited. More information about them is visible in the menu before you select an object.
  • Clothing accessories are used as a means to personalize your character or to enhance a roleplay scene. Their use should NOT depict trolling, deliberately misaligning, or obstructing another player's vision.

Creative crafts are encouraged, subpar ones will be cited.

PUNISHMENT(S):
Verbal warning, slap or kick, admin jail, gun ban, or ban based on severity.
