CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT
A Short Guide
Let's start off by defining both
character, and
character development.
A character is basically an individual in a story, and in roleplay terms, it's basically the person that you're controlling. Think of GTA Legacy as a story mode, and you just got the chance to be a character in it, of course you want to be unique, or you want to be known in something, you're just tired of shooting up the rival set and doing small time business and you're ready to sacrifice yourself for your set, that's good, but you know what could be better? Developing your character.
Alright, so you've came here to know how to do that, you might have prior experience or you might not, but let's actually define character development aswell.
Character development is the process of building a unique, three-dimensional character with depth, personality, and clear motivations. Character development can also refer to the changes a character undergoes over the course of a story as a result of their actions and experiences. ~ Google.
Basically, you just come up with your own story, you create your own novel and apply it on your character, let's say you aim to be a business owner here, then you figure out a way to actually become that.
First off, we build a background story, on how much this character has suffered (or not necessarily suffered in the past, you have your own imagination for that), and what kind of motivations it has
(these motivations could change depending on the process of building the character) And then you actually start off on your character building process.
So for now, the main things you'll have to do is;
1 - A solid background story (It can not be changed under any circumstances, so have a talk with yourself first and see what kind of character you want to build.)
2 - Build your own personality. (It's not preferable that you copy someone else's personality, unless you want to base your character off someone.)
3 - Clear motivations. (Your character should have a reason to go up the stairs of your own set, or even yourself. it's not charity work, yeah?)
4 - Stick to your character. (You're the one who built it, do actions that will fit your character)
Now, what is the advantages of building a character and developing it?
1 - Chances of becoming something in your own set or even starting up your own business is higher, everyone likes roleplaying with someone who understands.
2 - You'll actually enjoy it, you'll feel that you've created this thing and that will absolutely elevate your level of gameplay, and it might open your mind onto things you wouldn't have known.
3 - Do you really want to stay as a hoodrat for the rest of your live? Come on, elevate your game!
